To remove sites that you might not want to be displayed from your firefox site suggestion display list, hover your mouse over it so that it is highlighted, then press the delete key (not the backspace key.)

Pro-Tip #12
When you're using a smart-board, and you need to erase something, circle it once with the eraser, then tap the middle. It will all be erased. This saves time and prevents a conversation with the OCD student in the third row who likes pointing out every time you missed erasing something
